One of Indonesia’s largest sugar plantations has recently procured the first of what is expected to be many DICKEY-john intelliAG ISOBUS fertiliser control systems for precision control of sugarcane fertiliser application.
The purchase follows a successful on-site installation and field trial conducted by Cambut AG Electronics, the authorised DICKEY-john distributor for the Asia-Pacific region, together with its Indonesian partner, PT Kharisma Putra Jaya. The trial demonstrated the system’s ability to accurately control and monitor fertiliser application in real time, helping to reduce fertiliser costs while ensuring consistent application rates.
With fertiliser prices remaining high due to global market conditions, efficient fertiliser management has never been more important. Operations using manually controlled fertiliser applicators tend to apply more fertiliser than necessary. In some cases, operators report applying up to 50% more fertiliser than required. While this approach may provide a margin of safety against under-applying, it can substantially increase operating costs and still does not guarantee uniform application across the field.
The DICKEY-john intelliAG ISOBUS fertiliser control system provides operators with real-time automatic control and monitoring of fertiliser application rates, ensuring the correct amount of fertiliser is applied where it is needed. The result is improved application accuracy, reduced input costs, and greater confidence that crops receive the nutrients required to maximise yields.
